Marvel Legends Series Spider-Man

The desert wind, harsh against my goggles, whipped at the tattered remains of my 2099 costume. Another rooftop jump. Another near miss. The future wasn’t kind to pristine spandex.
Speaking of which, this new Marvel Legends Spider-Man 2099 figure… well, let’s just say its aesthetic is a significant improvement. My old,… ahem… prototype had a certain je ne sais quoi—mostly “cheap plastic” and “wonky proportions.” This thing, though? Crisp lines. Dynamic posing potential. They clearly took some notes on articulation; it’s practically a ballet dancer, ready to web-sling across the city. The included interchangeable hands are also a nice touch.
The sculpting on the figure’s head is spot-on, capturing that iconic angular mask. The detail on the chest spider-emblem is particularly impressive. The metallic paint adds a subtle shimmer that really catches the light. The ankle articulation allows for some surprisingly stable stances, which is crucial for recreating those gravity-defying poses. I’m telling you, it’s a whole different ballgame from the ToyBiz version, which, let’s be honest, looked like it was molded from stale Play-Doh.
Now, here’s a minor gripe: the figure’s cape…it’s a bit stiff. It limits some of the more dramatic, sweeping poses. The thin plastic of the cape doesn’t quite evoke the billowing, wind-swept look we’re all after. However, a little judicious application of heat (hairdryer, folks, not a flamethrower) should do the trick. You can gently bend the cape into a more flowing shape, and then let it cool, locking it into the desired position. I’m going to try that myself.
So, who’s this figure for? Any serious Spider-Man collector will want this.
